Goal Setting

It took lunch today with J to remind me that the key to moving forward is not just goal setting and mapping out a plan, but executing on that plan.

My goal is to figure out how to get off the Corporate Treadmill and make a living instead doing everything I love to do. Make that an excellent living I’ll make, thanks.

This open-source career, goal & success blog is a first step in that plan. Lunch with J reminded me that I don’t need to have every topic, every entry, every thought pre-written before launch. Better to launch now and write along the way: it’s the journey that counts. So welcome to my humble first post.

I love what the open wallet crowd did for personal finance. I’m going public with my career plans, successes & fears. My positive results are:
* To get and share your insight and wisdom
* To open up new opportunities and ideas for myself and my readers
* To make sure I’m writing again regularly

Cheers!

I am very into this! I am coming at this whole career thing from a different angle – the nonprofit one. But judging from your posts so far I think there will be alot of similarities! I think the open blog philosophy is just the professional development opportunity I have been looking for!

    Glad to hear it!

Before all this MBA and F50C business, I worked in a nonprofit running back-office functions, and later for the state of MN giving out grants to nonprofits. I’ve also had the privilege of serving on the board of directors of one of my former grantees.

Because of funding constraints, professional development and career pathing sometimes gets ignored in the nonprofit world. And burnout is a huge risk, too. I sometimes feel that nonprofit folks have to manage their careers even more so than corporate folks do.
